Today is bittersweet.
Today is my daughter's birthday and today her beloved pet Kea passed away.
Today I am saddened.
I light a candle recalling all the golden memories with Kea.
Memories that have become entangled in my heart.
Kea was my daughter's pet but you know how easily we become attached to
our family pets.
Rest in peace sweet Kea.

I am so sorry for the loss of your dog. Dogs are family and it hurts so much when we lose them. I adopted my dog Hiker 4 months ago at a rescue shelter. I needed something to help be get through the grief of my late husband Ben who passed away 8 months ago. If anything happened to Hiker, I do not know what I would do. She is my life now.

It is very sad to lose a 4 legged companion as they share so many years of our life during which they give us unconditional love and don't judge us!
7 years ago we had to put our previous Golden retriever to sleep as he had bone cancer. This was a tragic event.

Anna, I am deeply saddened about Kea -- you're right; our family's pets are part of our family, too. We thought we were going to lose Gypsy last week and I've never felt so bereft, so I can only imagine the deep sadness and hurt she and the rest of you are experiencing. I was lucky -- we may be on the farewell path, but we do have a reprieve. My sorrow to you al.

Kea looks very much like Aleta's dog, who went to doggie heaven several months ago. I know Kea and Judy are now playing together happily, chasing cats and butterflies, begging the angels for treats, and snuggling in the clouds. xoxo

My daughter lost her pug last May, the day before she was leaving for her wedding in Cancun. She was heartbroken because it was totally unexpected. But it's never easy to say goodbye. I hope that all the memories of the happy times with Kea will help your daughter to get through this difficult time.

Oh, I am SO sorry Anna. You DO get so attached to these guys. They actually are part of the family.I have a 24 year old cat, and every year I think she might not make it through the winter.
