We've arrived in Arizona
our winter Oasis!
As the passenger on our 5 day road trip I took these photos
*while travelling at a speed of 70 mph.
I share with you glimpses of the scenic drive.
The drive along interstate 40 in New Mexico.
Known as the "Land of Enchantment" because of
scenic colorful landscapes and breathtaking panoramas!
Glorious blue skies!
How wonderful is this after seeing nothing but grey skies
back home.
Snow along the interstate between New Mexico and Arizona
as we head for the Sonoran Desert Foothills which has more than
*300 days of sunshine per year!!
Spectacular Desert landscape!
Steep rocky slopes extremely lush and green this time of year
filled with cacti, desert plants, and winding roads.
Majestic mountains surround us as far as the eye can see!
We are less than 2 hrs. from our final destination!
Saguaro Cactus forest!
The mighty Saguaros with arms that look like they are
waving to us as we pass by!
"The landscape belongs to the person who looks at it."
Ralph Waldo Emerson

The trip alone is worth the move Anna. Superb country indeed. I can quite understand that you like to get away from shovelling snow and the darkness of winter to somewhere bright, beautiful and sunny.
What beautiful scenery. I've never been west, except for a plane ride to Calif. 30 years ago. That second photo is really gorgeous! I know you are enjoying the sun and warmth and blue sky!
We are having a fairly mild winter in the northeast, but I'd love to be where it is warm. Your pictures are very inviting. Enjoy your time in the sun (but don't forget the sunscreen!)
Ahhh - lovely pics! I'm impressed that you were able to take them out the window of your car without having them all blurred.
Five days is a long road trip, but worth it for blue skies, sunshine and no snow! Enjoy!!
I've been to the land of enchantment and the cacti forest. Both while driving on what I call road trips.
Hope your Winter vacation is full of sun and fun !!!
Glad to know you made it safe and sound. Arizona has a magical kind of beauty, doesn't it?
Welcome to Arizona! Looks like you've landed in the Sonoran desert. There's a little snow at the South Rim if you're missing it already. ;)
Great trip photos at such a speed too! Many changing landscapes and skyscapes.
Hi Anna,I'stopped here only to say to you HELLO !Enjoy your trip!
WOW, lucky you. I would love to be there in the winter. Your scenic drive photos are wonderful. The mountains and colors are gorgeous. hansk for sharing, Happy Skywatching!
Very nice and different landscapes!
Good to hear you arrived safely. Wonderful scenery along the way.
Beautiful images, Anna! The last two photos look quite familiar to me. Ah, I'd like to be in sunny Arizona right now. Enjoy your stay!
These are really good shots taken from a car moving at 70 mph! I especially like the contrast in the one with snow on the ground and a deep blue sky overhead! Beautiful scenery in all the photos.
Enjoy your time in Arizona! These are beautiful pics. You might even get a suntan! ;)
Beautiful place.
Regards and best wishes
Quite awesome landscape.
Gorgeous photos... So glad you are feeling Well --and enjoying another winter in Arizona. I can only imagine how great it feels to experience the sunshine again--after being in Canada in winter.
Here in Tennessee, we are not having much winter. BUT--we aren't seeing much sunshine either since we've had so much rain this year.
Have fun and soak up that sunshine.
Hugs,
Betsy
Wow. I've never been that far west in the US but the scenery is spectacular. I hope you enjoy the warm dry air. It sure would feel good to this body today while it's snowing outside. Blessings, Pamela
I loved your virtual drive! How fun. The valley one was my favorite.
I love road trips!
We are due for one soon. Once our kitchen is finished over the summer we should be off.
I was somewhat comforted by the sight of snow here...that is until you mentioned 300 days of sunshine. Just joking! Glad to see you are making the most of your trip south and enjoying the scenery.
Hugs ♥♥
Sheila! I always am in awe reading this fact of 300 days of sunshine per year!Boy the residents here are truly blessed! Do they really know how lucky they are?
But during the hot months I'm sure 110F-115F temps can be unbearable!
All the vegetaion in the desert amazes me how they survive without water during these hot hot summer months!
Mother nature has provided for each in her own way! Those Saguaros sure store tons of water!
Welcome back to AZ.
So glad you are here. Ahhh it was a little over cast today.lol
Hope to see you soon.
Nature Girl, How nice to see that you are back in a place of such warmth and beauty! I am sure you are soaking up htat AZ sunshione! I fell in love with saguaros the first time I saw them. What giants they are! What amazing plants! enjoy your time in the desert. I will live vicariously through you!
