Citrus Orange

"Nature's first green is gold. Her hardest hue to hold"
Robert Frost

Sweet smelling Lantana
citrus colors of orange and gold
truly a bold statement for my woodland garden

In choosing color for the garden
my inspiration came from Mother Nature
She has the ability to combine colors in the most brilliant way
Yesterday it was the lemon yellow finch and today
it's the bright orange of the Baltimore Oriole

just look at the marmalade coloring of this feral cat..
I know he's impressed with the bright orange Oriole
~
Feral cats continue to roam about my woodlands
action to capture and spayed is the solution but there's
no organization in place ...  what am I to do

Under the woodland's canopy of brown Oak trees
a sunny hot pop of citrus color

"No two gardens are the same. No two days are the same
in the garden"
Hugh Johnson

Angel Mothers

 mom. mummy. mother. mama. mum
loving. caring. nurturing. strong. affectionate. kind.
wise. gentle. devoted. warm. tender.

a potted plant. china teacups. 2 empty chairs.
a tranquil place  alone with our thoughts we remember

Bowing our heads in prayer
their hands out of  reach forever
~ the day their spirits took wing ~
we celebrated and honored the memories of
our precious angel mothers
~
Natureboy and I annually sit in the garden remembering our mothers
A day of sunshine.  breakfast of pancakes.  taken out for lunch.
long distance calls from our son. daughter. chats with grandchildren
topped off with a stroll through the garden store

Celebration of Motherhood

While in Arizona this is one of the many stables that have
fallen on hard times. Empty stalls where once numerous
Arabian horses grazed on sweet grass..but
look what I see

a mother's love ....
...  maternal bond ...
... tender and instinctive ...
..  Hope is born  ..

... the future ..
just days old helpless. sweetness. and innocence stands tall
*another newborn from this stable Baby Face is  posted here

Finally Spring

"Spring has arrived..

The Earth is like a child that knows poems."
Rainer Marie Rilke
A hug from Mother Nature in the form of a butterfly..
