Still Frozen

Icy water as far as I can see
Where am I you are wondering.. no not Antarctica

Floating chunks of ice..
melting.. crackling..breaking up..makes an eery sound

Lake Huron

the 2nd largest of the 5 Great Lakes in North America
still icy

winter lingers
It will take until the end of April to completely thaw

Sandy beach
replaced with mountainous snow drifts 15 feet high
covered in sand

I eagerly await the arrival of Spring
on this icy lake

Still Frozen...Brrrrr

What a shock to the system to go from cooking in the desert back to the frozen North. Brrrr. It will be fun for you to see spring unfold.

What a change from the warmth of Arizona! Buck up my friend, at least you have the solace of snowdrops or whatever else is first to flower up your way.

What a culture shock it must be to go from warm and sunny AZ to the icy scenes of home! I hope that spring arrives for you soon, Anna. Thanks for sharing the images and information on the Petrified Forest--this is a place I've always wanted to see, but so far we haven't visited it.

Nice to see some melt, but it still looks rather wintery to me.

I was at Lake Huron the other week and surprised to see how frozen the lake still was. It is so beautiful in all seasons.

Amazing! I thought there would be no sign of winter past on the water. It much still be pretty chilly up there. Beautiful shots...peaceful and serene beauty.

What wonderful picture of the lake even if still frozen. reminds me alot of ND in the fact alot of the lakes are frozen here...and then cause major flooding when they do finally melt. i can't wait for spring either. it seems its been a long winter.
stopping by from watery wed.

An amazing majestic sight! But I must admit that I would enjoy seeing this from the comfort of a plane flying above it!

It's hard for us who lives so far south and surrounded by salt water that to imagine the great lakes freezing over...afterall, they ARE fresh water. Excellent adventure!! Loved all the photos.
