Colored Pompoms

Today's Flower
"Flowers are a proud assertion that a ray of beauty
outvalues all the utilities of the world."
Ralph Waldo Emerson

:: Allium ::
The starburst flower heads of alliums last many weeks
in the garden and the seedheads that follow are
just as decorative if not quite so colorful.

The spherical clusters of dark purple blossoms
like colored pompoms
sway and dance in the breeze..
THEREFORE A BIT OF * A BLURR TO THIS PHOTO
I will surely plant this bulb in September in my own garden!

To Touch

"To touch the earth is to have harmony with nature"
Oglala Sioux Proverb

a time of new beginnings..
the first time he touches tiny green shoots that appear..

he reaches..
curious about simple things.. exploring his new world..
a carpet of thick green grass.
The wonders of what is and what can be I'm spending time in
the garden teaching my baby grandson
the quiet gifts of Mother Nature.

Outdoors and Landscaping

~I'm back!~
Having immeresed myself in the garden last week I've found
time to get back to blogging and to
you my dear friends!
Welcome bloggers that have recently commented for the first time
and thank you my newest followers..

Smiles and hugs I'll soon return your visits!

~ one of my felines- Ms. Babie ~
It makes a lot of sense to gaze at the garden
with a critical eye...

With combined efforts, natureboy and I made necessary
changes to our garden.
Clearing away debris left over from winter, checking for
damage & signs of new life, preparing the soil in places
that needed it...

~lily- of- the- valley~
greeting my flowers and plants
coming out of hibernation..

One time consuming project was to paint the fence grey
and along the back of our garden we re-planted, using a
contrast in shapes of a subtle palette of green on green
foliage plants and shrubs.
Woven throughout white impatiens cover the earth..
and planters and pots of white flowers here and there..
with so much white we won't need candles
in our garden at night!

~Blue Star Creeper~
Working faithfully in the garden I do make sure to
sit back and take in with pride and a deep sense
of accomplishment what we've done realizing that..
garden season has just begun!
~Happy Gardening everyone!~

"To forget how to dig the earth and to tend the soil
is to forget ourselves"

Mohandas K. Gandhi

Thank you for stopping by friends..
I'm as busy as a bee reconnecting and digging
in my garden.
May you all enjoy the sounds, scents, and sights of
your gardens in transition!

Works of Art

Today's Flower
all the applied arts have sought to reinterpret
her works of art..

Mother Nature's still-life painting
bold brush strokes of color..

she creates her own design
in the form of a flower!

Move in closer
take in the delicate artistry, hidden secrets,
the irregular edges of each petal..
she breathes life into each work of art
blossoming from the earth using only water and the sun..
Mother Nature the master of all artists
renewing her subjects depending on the season!

"everything in Nature contains all the power of Nature"
Ralph Waldo Emerson

Bulbs on Bloom Day

Last month upon arriving home from my winter in Arizona
where flowers were abundant, my own garden seemed
gloomy and uninviting.. but today is
BLOOM DAY hosted by Carol of May Dreams Gardens
a day to show what's happening in my garden this day in May!

my garden shows signs that Spring is here to stay
with glorious hints that summer is yet to come!

Frilly tulips in pinks are the leading ladies in my review
of flowers in May

::Tulipa Annelinde ::

:: Tulipa Angelique ::
Their beautiful abundant blooms give me an instant lift!
Both Annelinde and Angelique resemble a Peony!
*my peonies are not yet in bloom but soon!

:: Spring Green::
makes a fresh statement

tulips standing proud ..
sunny bright blooms of Spring Green and Pink Diamond
and a hint of grape hyacinths peeking too

::Narcissus Bell Song ::
I think if flowers could sing this would be the one..
surrounded by drifts of white phloxs
I LoVe this annual performance of my bulbs in bloom!

Purr..fect Love

I see what I Love... my curious Babie
Outdoors under a clump of trimmed branches
spying on squirrels and the birds that are
flying about. She views the world through a window
but on occasion I allow her outside with me
while I tend the garden..
*never left alone outside
I Love what I see... my affectionate Paisley
Pure pleasure in the present moment..
the silkiness of her fur, the warmth of her body
melted into my lap in photo above
The gentle vibration of her harmonious purr...
a purr-fect LoVe
that magical bond between my cats and I

Either Way Up

Sometimes sky watch images just happen.
The sun had set and the moon was
visible reflecting on this pond.
Either way could be up!
*When downloading to mosaic maker unfortunately
the moon was cut off but I'm sure you get the idea

Solitude

Taking daily nature walks alone is a wonderful way
to quiet my mind.

peace of mind necessary for listening to one's
deeper self."
