Shadow Box

Out door fun and enchantment
my outdoor shadow box..
easy and inexpensive
a great way to decorate the fence!

A harvest celebration..
when the party is over
I'll set the corn cobs aside in
the garden as a gift for the squirrels and birds!

This shadow box was made from an antique
window frame..boxed and permanently
screwed into the fence.
I display with seasonal delights!

Autumn's Warm Glow

A candle loses nothing
if it is used to
light another one.

* Inspiration
came from Maria in Finland.
She asked that bloggers participate
in posting
"a flame of autumn"

Brilliant Splendor

Stopping by before takeoff
on its long migration
to Mexico.

Think about the butterfly
and how precious and rare she is.
Her wings are colored in brilliant splendor
they are delicate but durable at the same time.

Like the butterfly
you are exquisite powerful and rare.
There is no one else quite like you
and there never will be.

Thus Your Fairy is Made

Photo
"Thus Your Fairy is Made" by Sophie Anderson (1823-1903)

While the raindrops gently
run down the windowpane
I have sunshine and
butterflies on the brain.

Legend says that fairies are born
each time a child smiles and
disappears when human beings
say they don't believe in them!

"I'll give thee fairies
to attend on thee..
And they shall fetch thee jewels
from the deep..
And sing while thou
on pressed flowers dost sleep."

William Shakespeare .. A Midsummer Night's Dream

Spiritual Flowering

The spirit opens!

The flower is a symbol of
the transient nature
of things

A new day
the dawn of a new life!

If we look at its shape
the flower is an
image of perfection!

*
Spikes of lavender and showy white
lily-like Hosta flowers

"The spirit opens like a flower to the sun.
It seeks no sensations..
It offers itself in abandonment
to the creative force."

Elephants.. my favorite animal on this planet!
+++++++++++++++++++++++++
The dangers that stalk elephants life in today's
troubled world..the loss of habitat through
human expansion has forced these gentle giants
close proximity to humans and that has generated
conflict in which the elephant's are always
the losers!
There is suffering generated by human greed
for their ivory tusks, leaving countless orphans
in the care of young and inexperienced..
although still compassionate and caring
young matriarchs who are little more
than babies themselves!
Today there are few natural intact
elephant families left in today's world.
The elephants have lost the wisdom of their
elders and this has had a profound effect
on their lives!
+++++++++++++++++++++++++
The message:
the elephants are worthy of and need
human compassion and understanding
that they may be allowed
the space they need for a better
quality of life on a small globe
that they share with us!
